About Me

Learning is my life & I love it! An avid reader & writer since my earliest memories, I continue to develop my passion every day as a middle school Language Arts teacher. [But here's a secret: I probably learn more from my amazing students than they do from me!]

I'm currently enhancing my life as a learner at the University of Colorado Denver, where I'm enrolled in the Instructional Learning Technology grad program. This blog serves as a forum where I can share my passion for reading, writing and educational technology with the world.

My Philosophy

It's important to "constantly look at things in a different way" because it helps us see ourselves and our relationship to others better. This philosophy rings true in many facets of my life: in my career as a Literacy teacher, my career as a grad student and in my life as a part of this human world.

Reflection. It's the key to looking at things in a different way. Reflection helps me understand my students' point of view as they work through their triumphs and struggles in reading and writing. As a grad student, reflection allows me to consider how my new learning will improve my students' learning.

Standing on a desk helps me see the complete picture of my life. And just as the different facets of my life come together within this reflection that I am writing, so too do the lives of the students I work with. Looking at things in a different way is important for me, but even more important for my students.
